CHALLENGE NINE COMPLETED.....
The final of the challenges on Afrcian soil which make up the expedition has been completed and it was particularly tough!
Ras Dashen in Ethiopia is 4543m above sea level but to get to it requires the ascent and descent of Ethiopia's second highest mountain too...
I decided to reduce the three day trek to two in order to try and gain a day and be ahead for the trip north to Wadi Halfa and the ferry across Lake Nasser, but this meant giving myself the hardest and most challenging of all of the tasks I set myself over a year ago.
When I arrived back at the Colonel I was totally exhausted and the second of my big toenails is due to seperate from my foot sometime in the next few weeks...delightful!
I am now in Khartoum arranging the next few days of the trip, sweltering in the heat here and preparing for the big push north to try and get home in time for Christmas lunch at my sisters the day after running the final marathon back into my home town of Petersfield, Hampshire!
AFRITREX IS NEARING COMPLETION.
Please read the blogs when you get a chance....
