NIGHT TIME SHOTS
Blessed with absolutely no artistic and photographic skills whatsoever I decided it was about time I started to use at least some of the potential my Canon EOS possesses to record the build up to the expedition, and to capture some images for the website.
I remember a photo a friend, Andy Place, had taken of his Mini prior to departing for the Mongol Rally a couple of years ago, which captured the car on a hillside in the dark of night with only the stars as a means of lighting the frame….I would attempt to do the same but this time try and capture the Perseid meteor show in the background!
This natural phenomenon happens every August throughout the northern hemisphere as the earth moves through the tail of a passing comet resulting in around 80 shooting stars every hour.
So I set off with a few friends to the top of the South Downs just outside Graffham, West Sussex to find a suitable site from which I could practice extended long-exposure shots to capture the movement of the stars AND hopefully a meteor shower.

Fairly pleased with what I managed to capture, no meteors though and just like the school report….could do better!
